Feel the need to say something positive right now as I've been doing a fair bit of griping in the pages of this journal.

A few weeks ago, you asked if I still classed you as a friend.



I replied in the affirmative (yes). We've had a few nice little chats, where you've showed you could be a really nice person - which had always been my impression of you.



But recently, you've proceeded to delete every comment I've made in your journal, whether it agrees with your PoV or not (we all know you don't like being disagreed with). You've also been generally abrasive and abusive to much of VR, and basically shown a side of yourself that I personally find distasteful.



I have defended you when others have bitched, I have kept making excuses for you, but no more.



I think I shall be revoking my former answer.



Oh, and if you think this is about you...it probably isn't :-)

You know, I think this is the longest I've been in a society without having some kind of supporting position (Details Master, Forum Master or ACM etc)...and I actually enjoy it :-) While I obviously feel loyalty and responsibility for the House, I don't feel like I have to live up to any particular standards, and I don't worry that I'll get my rank stripped if I don't log in for a few days. Not that Craig did that in Bohemia (he was great!), but you know what I mean. I can enjoy the House without worrying about managing any part of it.

I'm thinking I might delete that journal entry - I'm sick of looking at my comments and seeing he's added yet another one...I write the entry back in April and you're still looking at it? Jeez...



On another note, I've noticed that the latest VR mass 'peeve' is people who visit profiles without rating. Now, I'm sorry if this offends anyone (no I'm not), but do you really expect someone to only ever visit your profile once, to rate? Unless someone is so anally retentive as to keep a written list of everybody they've rated, they're probably gonna come to yours at least twice. And because a rate only counts the first time you give it, there's really no point in re-rating unless you're changing that rate. I mean, do you go back through ALL your rates after checking your last 10, just to make sure that the person has actually rated you? IF you DO, all I can say is; you have WAY too much time on your hands!



One journal entry in particular made me think. This person stated that after rating someone, if they weren't rated back within a timely limit, they'd go back and re-rate that person a 1. Now, again, the sheer memory and organisational skills alone needed to keep that pledge are mind-boggling, not to mention the fact that at the very least, it's only polite to ask someone why they haven't rated you - if indeed you really care.



Some of the reasons why someone may visit your profile and not rate:



-They have rated before, too long ago for you to remember.



-They like your profile and want to keep visiting it, and know it's pointless to rate more than once.



-They may have been interrupted when about to rate, and then forgot (people do forget; it happens).



-They may be undecided as to what they think your profile is worth to them, and choose to come back to it (rare, but has been known to happen).



-They may not think it's worth a 10, but choose to avoid the drama which invariably follows giving a lower rate, so they don't rate at all. I do this myself most of the time.



-They may have rated you a while ago, not recognised the name a second time, and only realised they'd rated you already when they saw the 'You have already rated this person'.



See? There's lots of valid reasons why someone might visit your profile without rating you. I wish people wouldn't treat it like the world's biggest insult! Be happy that anyone is looking at your profile at all :-)

To answer your post back from my APRIL journal entry HHW; Yes, I do have posts going on about revenge raters. I never claimed not to. I like fair ratings as much as the next person. The difference between you and me is that I class a fair rating as one given based on the profile; how much skill, effort and thought has gone into it. You, apparently, seem to think that a fair rating is a 10.



I would not mind in the least being given a 3 if I had a crappy profile with sod all on it. It's REVENGE rating I object to, given when a person thinks that their empty profile should be given a ten, and downrates a person if they don't give it.



Why is that concept so difficult to understand for some people?



But, I liked the fact that you offered to design me a graphic...that fair cheered me up :-D

I admit, I occasionally whinge about the ratings I get if I feel they're unjust (revenge ratings in particular), but to go so far as to actually create a LIST of all those who haven't rated you a ten? OH MY GOD!! Get a life!! Your profile isn't shit-hot, so get over it or do something about it! ACCEPT the fact that not everyone rates the same criteria you do, and stop pestering people about why they're rated you less than a ten.



Newsflash - most of those people probably gave you a ten simply to shut you up, not because your profile is actually worth it!

I really wish that people who are planning on self-deleting would clear their friends and journal lists before they do. It's very annoying being on tons of friends lists and half of them not even being active accounts! You can't message them in an attempt to get to know them, you can't message them asking that they remove you. They're just like ghosts...stuck there for all eternity...

Added a few more pics to my portfolio, of my new tattoo, engagement ring and a cool curly bar I wear in my lip sometimes. I have thought about taking a pic of different parts of another pic, like me standing up or something, and strategically uploading them so that when the port is viewed, they all look like one big mosaic...



...but that would be way too much work.



No doubt somebody is going to go and do that now, but remember - you saw the idea here first!

I don't know the whole story ,and I'm not going to pretend I do. I'm not even sure if I WANT to. I just see people I class as my friends at each other's throats, and it's not nice.



OK, I was never in the 'Elite', but that never mattered as much as feeling like we were all friends. Now, that seems to have fallen apart.



I'm not looking to fall out with anyone; I still class you as friends even if, by association, you don't reciprocate.

What happened to you dude? You used to be cool...

I've always prided myself on not being influenced by others first when it comes to people; I form my own judgements based on how someone treats me, not others.



But now...I'm really starting to wonder if, on this occasion, I may have been so, so wrong.



At first he was sweet, and he still is to me, but when I see how he is with others I'm shocked and, I have to admit, a little embarrassed. I will never deny that he is my friend, and I will remain his friend unless he turns on me too, but I wish he wasn't so nasty with some of the other people on this site.

Just thinking, wouldn't it be cool if you could comment on individual pics within a person's portfolio, kinda like you can on Myspace and Facebook? It'd just add an extra dimension to member interaction, because I know journal commenting has helped people find friends and stuff...
